Welcome!

I’m so glad you’re here.

I work with women who the world often views as high functioning and self-reliant. You somehow manage to tend to everyone and everything around you… yet on the inside you may feel burnt out, overwhelmed, and depleted. Your perfectionistic tendencies have served you in so many ways, and now it’s time to learn new tools so you can feel balanced, capable and confident.

During our work together I draw on various techniques and create a tailor made approach that helps you make sense of your feelings, recognize (& cultivate) your unique resources and strengths, and learn science based tools for lasting change. I believe this work can be lighthearted and enriching. My approach is candid, warm and honest.

As a Bay Area native, I understand the unique nature of dating, living, working, and raising a family here. And having experienced secondary infertility myself, I know just how powerless you can feel in the midst of setbacks and unpredictability.

My expertise has been featured in various publications and on podcasts including Happiness in Progress, Modern Motherhood, Connecting and Finding Meaning, and I have served as a board member for the San Francisco Psychological Association and acted as the Early Career Professional Chair.

In keeping with my desire to make mental health feel accessible, I run an online platform (@drcatherineschmidt on Insta) where we talk about all things women’s mental health and embrace the messy parts of life along the way.

Outside the office you can find me planning adventures, creating pottery, baking or cuddled up on the couch with my husband, children, and wild labradoodle, Richard.
